The Shumard Oak (Quercus Shumardii) is a large tree reaching 120 feet in height on the rich, moist bottomland soils of the east cross timbers, blackland prairies, post oak savannah, pineywoods, and gulf prairies. The dark green, deeply lobed leaves of the Shumard Oak turn a beautiful scarlet red or bright yellow in the fall.
This tree will tolerate poor drainage and has the ability to survive a drought.
